Resin Transfer Molding
Resin Transfer Molding is a great method to use for very high fiber/resin ratios. It will also produce a finish on both sides instead of just one like other methods. Labor costs are low and is a great method for higher volumes of product.
Two heavy tools are made for a female & male side. The female end is first gel coated to the customer’s specific color. Then the pre-cut fiberglass is laid out in the female side. The male end is now lowered into the female end with hydraulic pressure. Once secured down, resin is forced through the fibers by vacuum. Once it is completed the male end is lifted out and you get what you see in the picture.
